At CCI 360, we try to utilize the best technology for commercial and residential construction while using social media outlets also. Now, there is even more interest across the industry about “Virtual Construction.” From Matt Steven, “THE EXCITEMENT ABOUT virtual construction is justified, since the majority of the cost of any building is the actual construction. It is many times more than cost of the design. With wasted time of labor still around 30 percent however, it is logical and rational to start there in our quest for better project outcomes. Virtual design has its place, but the real opportunity is to increase productivity, safety and quality while constructing in real time.

April 22, 2010 marks the 40th anniversary of Earth Day. From its inception, tens of millions of people have participated at the national and grassroots level, and support for this event grows exponentially each year. The construction industry overall has been well ahead of the “green” movement for decades and approaches every day as Earth Day. We are honored to have participated in several LEED certified projects. CCI 360,LLC is dedicated to being good stewards of this earth that we have been so generously entrusted with.

Good News from the Construction Industry

A ray of hope…. Jim Haughey from Reed Construction Data reported last week, “The value of construction starts increased 4% in January after a weak December in spite of continuing unseasonably poor construction weather. Starts were 25% higher than in the previous January. Job-site construction spending fell 10% since last January. Interpret the divergence this way. The sharp decline in starts in early 2009 cut starts below completions leading to the year-long fall in construction spending. Starts plunged nearly 50% from August 2008 to June 2009. Since then, starts have rebounded nearly 50% so the pipeline of work is again expanding and will lead to resumed increases in monthly construction spending in a few months, with progressively larger gains through 2011.”
